Our story
A neighbourhood shop
Marcus opened Smith Street Barber Shop in 2009 with two chairs, a secondhand mirror and a hand-painted sign. The idea was simple: an unhurried haircut, done properly, at a price that made sense for the block.
Six chairs later, not much has changed. We still take the time to talk through a cut before we start, we still finish every service with a hot towel, and we still know most of our regulars by name — and their kids by nickname.
